Too many kids these days the kitchen is like foreign soil. They don’t feel comfortable in it and only know enough to get by. That’s sad, because food preparation and cooking skills are essential to a healthy lifestyle, not to mention what they miss out on in regards to a variety of good tasting food. The skills are rarely taught in school anymore so parents – it’s up to us to teach our children how to be comfortable working in the kitchen and how to prepare food that’s healthy, tastes good, and won’t break the budget. Even younger kids can learn basic food preparation and planning.

Today’s recipe is kid-friendly in terms of taste and preparation. With a little supervision your kids can make delicious smoothies for breakfast or a snack. Encourage them to try different flavors too. Have them pick out their favorite fruits and try something new.

My kids had fun making these strawberry-banana smoothies. And I had fun taking the photos, supervising, and putting this together. Keep scrolling and you’ll find the recipe. Do your kids have any favorite foods they like to make? I’d love to hear about them!
