Healthy snacks for kids

Healthy snacks should be tasty, appealing visually, and provide nutrient rich choices with both carbohydrate and protein. Kids get the energy and protein they need to hold them until the next meal and satisfy their hunger – at least for the time being. 

My favorite ones are quick and simple, like a peach with cottage cheese, an apple with peanut butter, hummus and raw veggies, or cheese and whole grain crackers. You can find a list of more quick and easy healthy snacks here.

Sometimes, though, it’s fun to make a special treat and have something different. I’ve put together a collection of 22 healthy snack recipes that I think my kids, and hopefully yours, will enjoy. Here they are:
