Sometimes when I run it’s hard – okay, lots of times. These almost half-century legs would rather be in bed, resting, instead of pounding the pavement in the early morning hours. At times I feel like giving up. But I’ve found instead that I need to keep going, to persevere. Ever been there? We all have, I think. We face a big hill in the road when we try to establish healthy habits, lose weight, or start an exercise program. Or we don’t see progress as quickly as we’d like and we feel like giving up. But that doesn’t get us anywhere. So don’t give up. Keep working on it, even if you can’t see the end yet. Persevere, and keep your eye on the future.

I am visiting you from Inspire Me Monday. Thank you for this. I remember doing a half marathon (at age 50) and seeing the hill ahead of me with switchbacks and runners at several points all the way up. I questioned why I was putting myself through this. Then I thought of all the other 50+ women that don’t even run. I just needed to finish—forget about the time.

Ana – I love your perspective! A half marathon at 50 is awesome and inspiring. It encourages me to keep going and just finish. Thanks so much for visiting!
