Have extra amounts of healthy foods readily available
Pick out your favorite fruits and vegetables from the grocery store or market and stock up on them for meals and snack times. Clean and prep them right away after you bring them home from the store. If they’re washed and ready to eat you’ll be more likely to choose them over something else that’s more convenient, but less healthy. Carrot sticks will be more appealing if they’re already peeled and cut up. Likewise, keep a bowl of fruit on the table or kitchen counter. If it’s in site, it’s a reminder that there are healthy options available and convenient. Other healthy snack options would include low-fat plain yogurt, low-fat string cheese, whole grain crackers, or air-popped popcorn. With healthy choices available and conveniently located, you’ll be more likely to choose them when you’re hungry and need something to eat.
