Apples are in season right now and there are so many wonderful recipes to make with them. I’m sharing a recipe over at Not Quite Amish Living today for an apple dessert.
How does this fit with healthy eating? Well, remember that it’s okay to have dessert sometimes. You can fit it into a healthy diet, just don’t over do it. If you’re overall diet is healthy around 80% of the time, then you can afford to have a dessert or other treat that other 20%.
This dessert does have some redeeming qualities to it. It’s loaded with apples, low in fat, and has some high quality protein in it with the eggs and milk. If you’re concerned about the sugar, you could try it with a substitute – but I’ve never tried that and can’t say how it will turn out. Let me know if you do, I’d like to hear about your results.
This recipe is one my favorites from my growing up years. I hope you enjoy it too. Head on over to Not Quite Amish Living for the recipe!

Can you use regular milk instead of skim? What kind of apples. Thank you. Cj

Yes, Carol. You can use regular milk. As for the apples I usually use whatever I have on hand. I think a mix of different apples makes the flavor even better.
