Fear can discourage and drag us down. When I first started running again I would cringe when I saw someone else on my path or if a car would pass me. I felt embarrassed and wondered what others thought of this slightly heavy, middle-aged woman out running. Truth is most people don’t think anything at all about it. It was my own fears running wild, discouraging me from exercising where others might see me. I’ve heard similar stories from other people. We don’t want others to see us exercise until we’ve lost the weight or can exercise without looking like we’ll fall over from exhaustion any minute. But we can’t let fear intimidate us. That just keeps us on an unhealthy track. We have to overcome our fears and continue to work on establishing healthy habits. Be encouraged, because God wants us to take care of ourselves; and He’s given us the power and strength to do it.
